The Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins May the odds be ever in your favourThis book reminded me a bit of Twilight. The first person narrative, the single POV, the heroine torn between two young men...But the similarities end there. Katniss is no Bella. She's no lovestruck teenager. This heroine has cojones! She's gone through real hardships, like losing one parent to a mine bomb and almost another to grief, like fighting starvation and having to provide for her family from a very young age. She's a fighter, that one. And, in the Hunger Games arena, she saves Peeta before he saves her.My favourite part of the book is that what drives the narrative is not the romance (or whom the heroine will end up with, Peeta or Gale) but her many troubles and how she overcomes them.I don't particularly enjoy young adult books but this one was different. I have already started reading the next book in the series, Catching Fire.
